Website nostalgia – How websites have changed over the years

How have websites changed throughout the years? I’ve been involved in web design for about 9 years now and here’s a look at how 5 of the sites that I regularly visit have changed throughout the years.

This post was inspired by The Evolution of Websites: How 10 Popular Websites Have (And Have Not) Changed (I’ve kept my list to British sites).

1. Play now/2004/2002

2. Sky Sports now/2004/2001

3. BBC now/2006/2002

4. .Net now/1999

5. Guardian now/2005/1999

I was actually looking up sites on the Wayback Machine last night! My girlfriend wanted to see what sites like deviantART looked like before she joined. I might do some more time traveling tonight :)

Always a nice surprise when you visit a site that you always visit and seeing a new design and layout. Or is that just me?
