March 11th-15th I’ll be hitting this year’s SXSW Interactive conference in Austin, Texas.

Thanks to the support from Invest NI and Digital Circle, I’ll be heading out with a team of innovative and creative companies from Northern Ireland.

Keep track of what I’m up to

I’ll try not to overload you with too many #sxsw updates but you can keep track of what I’m up to via the following:

SXSW Here We Go

Tomorrow I have the pleasure of flying out to Austin, Texas for South by Southwest (SXSW).

Very excited. Love it in the States and have wanted to go to SXSW for years now. Austin looks like a great place.

Useful apps

TripIt – just forward on your travel confirmation emails and it puts together your itinerary. Magic!

SitBy.us – tidy little app listing the interactive schedule. Decide what you’re interested in and then check your schedule. You sign in with Twitter so you can also see where your friends are going.

Sched – another useful scheduling app. Haven’t played around with it much but seems to have everything covered.

Happening App – a useful iPhone app showing you all the events happening around your current location.

Would love to know if you’re heading or if you know anyone heading. Looking to meet up with lots of new people, especially other designers, and get chatting over a beer at one of the many parties.

Planning to do a bit of blogging while I’m out there so will be sharing all that I learn and observe.

#buildconf: The Greatest Web Design Conference The World Has Ever Seen

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of attending Build, a web design conference organised by Andy Good and held in our very own backyard (literally 2 minutes round the corner from me in Belfast).

Created for obsessive-compulsive designers, Build is no ordinary web conference. From internationally renowned speakers to a jam-packed social calendar, Build is bringing the best of the web to Belfast’s Waterfront Studio on the 5th November.

Build presented some of the world’s most respected designers and speakers and it was an honor to meet them and be in their presence: Eric Meyer, Wilson Miner, Ryan Sims, Andy Budd, Mark Boulton and Tim Van Damme.

The conference was a huge success, I thoroughly enjoyed myself not just on the day but across the whole week with various other meetups and Andy deserves a huge pat on the back. Well done sir! I even managed to win a ‘goody bag’ thanks to this tweet – sorry Tim ;-)

I can’t even begin to list all the awesome people I chatted to over the week as there are too many to mention but it was good to meet you all and next time you’re up for a drink in Belfast just tweet me :)
