25 Hot Female Web Designers Part 2
Last year I published ‘25 hot female web designers‘, showcasing a collection of female designers who are hot at web design and had great websites.
With the recent publication of the A List Apart Survey 2008, I thought it was a good opportunity to follow this up with another 25 great designers.
This year’s survey found that 16.2% of those surveyed (29,567 of A List Apart readers) were female. That’s a rise of 0.1%. So there’s not much improvement in regards to the amount of females in the industry, but I have came across 25 more great designs.

Good post Lee!
Shame to see a 0.1% increase of female designers. Still it’s great to see some great sites/blogs out there.

Great list, appreciate the feature. :)

Thanks so much for including me on the list, Lee. I am in great company!
I hope next year’s survey finds a larger increase in female designers – we can certainly do better than 0.1%.

Awesome list Lee! It is always nice to see the ladies doing awesome work. I have compiled a similar list consisting of some of these ladies, as well as other influential female web and graphic designers. http://velvetant.net/blog/influential-female-designers/

This is a great list. Even if we are only ~~16% of the design population, there’s definitely a much larger chunk of talent here!

Thanks for sharing the awesome list of designers! And thank you even more of attaching links to their Twitter accounts when they have one – makes following them a breeze :) now I can’t wait for inspirational tweets from them.
If you want me to pick a favourite, I guess I’ll settle with Jenna’s growldesign site. I’m a fan of sliders and dark backgrounds, lovely stuff.
Thanks again for sharing this compilation!

Wow Lee, what an awesome list! Thanks for including me, I’m very honored. I’d say since you’ve now compiled 50 hot female designers and the comments mention more, maybe we’re not “missing” as much as we’re “quiet”. ;)
I’m writing a session to give at several web conferences in the next couple months. Can’t wait to dig through these to find some great examples to use. In fact, maybe my whole session should secretly use all female designers which I then reveal at the end. Bwahaha ;)
Thanks again, Lee! See you on twitter…

So wait… these people can’t just be good designers? Who cares if they’re female? their stuff rocks. I’m so sick of having to silo people based on gender and ethnicity. These ladies are great designers and I don’t care if they’re women or purple people eaters.
On the , GinaRae said:
And to add another point. This article basically says, “Well they’re good designers [for a girl]” Come on!!! just say how great these designs are without telling us the gender of the person behind them.

Thank you for adding me to the list, I’m in fantastic company! Congrats to all the ladies, and I agree with Stephanie I think there are many of us out there we’re just quiet! ;)

I am honored to be included in the list with such talented ladies and flattered that someone across the pond has recognized my work. I’ll be using my new “hot” title as much as I can at work now. :)
On the , Suzy Johnston said:
Thanks for the mention Lee! Great to be included up there with all these other talented ladies! :D
On the , Ilona Filipenkova said:
What an honour! Thanks for featuring me, Lee.
Robert: No, I’m not a photoshop lady, just an iStockPhoto consumer. And using an illustration that someone else also found cute is just one downside of this.
