I was there on the night, the standard of Irish Webdesign is questionable. There is some good stuff there you just have to look really really reaaalllly hard for it.

Its disappointing more than anything, the cost of a table is nearly a crazy 3000e and the only reason your entering the awards is to look for new business and then you see the standard thats winning you have to scratch your head in amazement.

Oh, and they all meet the xhtml validation with flying colours! NOT

Some of these sites look nice, some of them don’t. I agree with you when you say that design isnt everything. I suppose the perfect combination would be a mix of stunning design with quality content, but that’s not an easy thing

@Richard @Mark: IMHO as I looked down the list I cringed at some of the designs myself, I think a few of these sites could do with a makeover :)

However, it does show that design isn’t everything. Take Damien Mulley’s blog for example. He uses the default WordPress theme but gets away with it because his content’s good.

It’s good to see the reaction from other designers though, feel free to give some more feedback.
